Is Consistency Key To Success Or Failure ?

Is Consistency Key To Success Or Failure
Sack Race with helmet - Bogor City, West Java, Indonesia 2017
Consistency, a word that has become a mantra in this modern world. People always say that being consistent is the main key for anyone to reach their goal. Without having consistency in whatever you do, it is likely that whatever your target is, you will fail.

That's what successful people mention repeatedly. They use their success to encourage other people to follow their attitude, if they want to obtain what they want.

Is it true?

I must admit that facts show that. Majority of rich and famous persons reach their wealth and fame by doing something in consistent way. It's almost undeniable.

However, the bad side of me says that "almost" means not 100%. It may reach 99% but it is still not 100%.

Because, there are also facts that people that do something consistently failed and fell. Famous examples were Yahoo and Nokia.

We can't say that they were not consistent. Until the end of their era, both companies are consistent to do what they believe the best, in their own terms. They keep doing what they have done for years and proven to make them success. Their faith to what they did had to be complimented and adored.

But.. They failed. Yahoo lost their throne as the popular search engine to Google. Nokia faced the reality that they were no longer a big player in smartphone and saw their company shrunk being hit by newcomer, such as Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei etc.

Such events should show that being consistent doesn't always guarantee a success. A consistent many times lead also people to failure.

Perhaps, such cases are not often but they happened.

That's also undeniable fact.

Finally, I made a conclusion from the reality, that there will always be chances that doing something consistently will harm you more, if you do it blindly. No success we will gain if we keep trying and doing the same thing with even trying to see the new reality. A consistency must be seen and do in short term, not long term. We must adapt to new reality that the world made. We must stop being consistent when you find the situation doesn't support what you are currently doing. New targets and goal must be recalibrated and remade. This has to be done often and regularly because the world changes very fast these days. So, all factors involved when making a target must evaluated again and again everytime we feel there is some changes. This mean, we have to do it in consistent manner, from time to time. That brings me to the last conclusion that the key of being success, in nowadays world is to be consistent in being inconsistency because you have to change so often and adapt to new variables provided by the inconsistent world. And, that makes me confused more .
